{"id":346,"date":"2008-10-24T23:04:10","date_gmt":"2008-10-24T21:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mattiesworld.gotdns.org\/weblog\/2008\/10\/24\/indie-game-spotlight-cave-story\/"},"modified":"2008-10-29T12:17:32","modified_gmt":"2008-10-29T10:17:32","slug":"indie-game-spotlight-cave-story","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mattiesworld.gotdns.org\/weblog\/2008\/10\/24\/indie-game-spotlight-cave-story\/","title":{"rendered":"Indie game spotlight: cave story"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I accidentally came to know about this great freeware game because it&#8217;s getting rereleased as WiiWare by <a href=\"http:\/\/nicalis.com\/blog\/\">these guys<\/a> and here is <a href=\"http:\/\/multiplayerblog.mtv.com\/2008\/10\/15\/how-cavestory-became-wiiware\/\">how it happened<\/a>.<br \/>\nWhen the game got released back in 2004, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tigsource.com\/\">TIG<\/a> was the first to take an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tigsource.com\/features\/interview_pixel.html\">English interview<\/a> with its Japanese author Daisuke \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Pixel\u00e2\u20ac\u009d Amaya.<\/p>\n<p>Doukutsu Monotagari aka Cave Story is a 2D non-linear platformer in its most true sense. \ud83d\ude42 It makes you feel back in the nineties, the graphics are pixelish and the music and sound effects are so cheesy, but that is all just part of all the fun! I am certainly no hard core platformer but when I started playing this game, I just couldn&#8217;t stop until I got defeated by some boss. \ud83d\ude42 So I&#8217;ve warned you, it&#8217;s quite addictive. \ud83d\ude09<br \/>\n<center><a href='https:\/\/mattiesworld.gotdns.org\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/cavestory.png' title='cave story'><img src='https:\/\/mattiesworld.gotdns.org\/weblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/10\/cavestory.thumbnail.png' alt='cave story' \/><\/a><\/center><br \/>\nThe gameplay is extremely well balanced and there is quite some variation. I don&#8217;t know how big the game is, but at the current pace, I&#8217;ve seen quite some environment variation and weapon upgrades.
