Though KDE 3.5 isn’t even out yet, developers are already working on KDE 4. Plenty of work has already gone into porting existing code to Qt4, the GUI toolkit upon which KDE is based, and KDE developers are working on projects that could radically change how the world’s most popular free desktop looks and works.
Finally a replacement for my excellent open-source windows TV recorder? 🙂 Can’t wait to check it out 😉 .
I’m quite a fan of Mandrake/Mandriva Linux though I’m really considering other distro’s like Kubuntu. Anyway, it seems linux is becoming more and more mainstream, also for desktops! Thank you Dell 😉
Update: Okay, my draft was so old that it seems that Dell will only be selling this in France. Oh well, it’s a start 😉

While looking at a Gtk+ 2.8 release announcement, I ‘discovered’ an app to manage your digital photographs. But then I remembered we already have digiKam :D. Still I’m surprised at the progress that has been made in the last year. I remember looking for such an app, ‘Adobe PhotoAlbum alternative’, some time ago, and I didn’t find anything decent back then.
Yep, there exists such a thing 🙂 even in Belgium! I think it’s very important that students learn to know and use Open Source software, so I hope some will show up!
