Feeling some genuine need for speed?

Today, I finally got my new monitor. Other one was broken for some time, so I was using a remote desktop connection (UltraVNC) from my laptop. I hesitated a long time, but after a thorough qualitative comparison between CRT and TFT, I finally went for the CRT monitor. Image quality is still far superior.

Anyway, I was longing to my desktop system since I wanted to test some new game demos which obviously wasn’t possible on the laptop. First in row was the Need for Speed Most Wanted demo.

Tom Cruise interface

Remember Minority Report where Tom Cruise handles some futuristic computer interface swinging things around using his both hands? That’s the first thing that popped into my mind when I first watched Tactiva’s tactapad in action 🙂 (thanks Peter ;)). Not as futuristic as in the movie, but very cool nevertheless!

I like the concept =) And there happens to be a KDE tool just for that! Every time, I’m surprised there are so many KDE apps I’m not aware of yet. 🙂

Tutorial creation soft

On the kimdaba video newspost, I discovered another free tutorial creation software: Wink. Not open-source though.

And I thought open source photo management software was in its infancy?? Kimdaba seems another fine app to handle all of your pictures!

With KimDaBa it is today possible for me to find any image I have in less than 5 seconds, let that be an image with a special person, an image from a special place, or even both.

KDE4, a desktop with appeal

Wallpaper

I needed a 1680 x 1050 wallpaper and didn’t find one immediately, so pulled one together with some artwork I found about Ice Age 2. Using the gimp of course :). I am certainly no artist, so don’t please don’t laugh with it ;).
